Habia una vez…once upon a time…
Hispanic Heritage Month is from September 15 through October 15.
The Montclair Public Library invites you to celebrate with bilingual storyteller Carrie Sue Ayvar as she flows seamlessly between English and Spanish through interactive Latin American folktales. Her rhythmic stories, punctuated by movements and chants, will have kids and their families swaying in colorful narratives of old as cultural frontiers become places where people connect.

Ayvar, who is of many cultural backgrounds, was raised in Mexico and is now based in Miami. Her many awards include the National Storytelling Network Oracle Award for Service and Leadership, the "Sun Award" for Advancing Teaching and Learning Through the Arts and the National Parenting Publications Awards 2009 Honors Award. Her storytelling exemplifies the old Siberian proverb: "If you don’t know the trees you may be lost in the forest, but if you don’t know the stories you may be lost in life."
