On Wednesdays at 2 p.m., Montclair Public Library hosts The Every Wednesday Matinee, a classic film series presented in its auditorium.

On Wednesdays at 2 p.m., Montclair Public Library hosts The Every Wednesday Matinee, a classic film series presented in its auditorium. Below are the patriotic films being screened this July:

1776 (July 6) - Starring William Daniels, Howard Da Silva and Ken Howard. A musical retelling of the American Revolution's political struggle in the Continental Congress to declare independence. (1972, 141 minutes, Color)

Yankee Doodle Dandy (July 13) - Starring James Cagney, Joan Leslie and Walter Huston. A film of the life of the renowned musical composer, playwright, actor, dancer, and singer George M. Cohan. (1942, 126 minutes, B&W)

Johnny Tremain (July 20) - Starring Hal Stalmaster, Luana Patten and Jeff York. Johnny Tremain is drawn into the Revolutionary War, and becomes a patriot fighting to free the colonies from England. Along the way he learns about life and about himself. (1957, 80 minutes, Color)

The Devil’s Disciple (July 27) - Starring Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas and Laurence Olivier. The black sheep of a family and the local minister discover their true vocations during the Revolutionary War. (1959, 83 minutes, B&W)
