Fatal Car Crash In Essex County Claims NJ Woman’s Life

A 51-year-old Dover woman died in a two-car crash in Fairfield. No criminal charges have been filed, authorities said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police are investigating a fatal car crash that took place in Fairfield on Tuesday, authorities said.

Nobody has been charged in connection with the crash, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fairfield Police Department.

“On Tuesday, June 14, Marina Prudencio, 51, of Dover sustained fatal injuries in a two-car crash on Passaic Avenue in Fairfield. The preliminary investigation indicates her Chevy Cavalier collided with a Mazda CX5 being driven by another woman. Prudencio was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:06 p.m. [Tuesday]. The driver of the Mazda was transported to Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, where she was treated and released.”

The Fairfield Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the crash.
