Faulty Electrical Equipment Caused Fire At Montclair Home: Authorities

The home took fire, heat and water damage. No injuries were reported, Montclair fire officials said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A “failure in a piece of electrical equipment” has been identified as the cause of a fire that damaged a house on Lexington Avenue in Montclair on Wednesday, authorities said.

According to the Montclair Fire Department, firefighters got a call about the fire at 10:15 a.m. When they arrived at the home, they found that the residents had already evacuated.

Firefighters entered the house and “quickly extinguished” flames on the third floor, although there was fire, heat and water damage in the area, authorities said.

The final unit left the scene at 12:34 p.m. There were no injuries reported, authorities said.
