A fight between two juveniles in Essex County that took place after a party sparked posts on social media – and an advisory from police.

GLEN RIDGE, NJ — A fight between two juveniles in Glen Ridge that took place after a party has sparked posts on social media – and an advisory from local police.

On Wednesday, the Glen Ridge Police Department announced that it has received repeated inquiries about reports circulating on social media involving an altercation between two minors.

“We understand the concerns these posts have raised within the community,” police stated. “We want to provide accurate information to clarify the situation.”

According to the GRPD, here’s what happened:

“On Saturday, Nov. 9, officers responded to a report of an altercation on Carteret Street involving two juveniles. Upon arrival, officers encountered a large group of juveniles who attended a party in the area, who were subsequently dispersed without incident. The two juveniles involved in the altercation had already left the scene prior to police arrival. Officers identified one local juvenile who was involved in the altercation. He was located in the care of his parents with minor injuries. The Glen Ridge Detective Bureau is actively working to identify the second juvenile involved in this incident. This matter remains under investigation.”

“The safety and well-being of all juveniles in Glen Ridge are of the utmost importance to the Borough and the Police Department,” authorities said.
