Film Noir Series Coming To Montclair Library
Scheduled films at the Montclair Library include Cornered, Desperate, The Phenix City Story and Deadline at Dawn.
Montclair, NJ – Dig film noir?
The Montclair Public Library is hosting an upcoming series called “The Every Wednesday Matinee,” a classic film series presented in the library auditorium on Wednesdays at 2 p.m.
Below are the film noir movies being screened this April:

- Cornered (April 6) - Starring Dick Powell, Walter Slezak and Micheline Cheirel. Canadian flyer Laurence Gerard finds that his wife has been murdered by a French collaborator. His quest for justice leads him to Switzerland and Argentina. (1945, 102 minutes, B&W)
- Desperate (April 13) - Starring Steve Brodie, Audrey Long and Raymond Burr. A young married couple flee both police and a gangster out for revenge. (1947, 73 minutes, B&W)
- The Phenix City Story (April 20) - Starring John McIntire, RIchard Kiley and Kathryn Grant. A crime-busting lawyer and his initially reluctant attorney father take on the forces that run gambling and prostitution in their small Southern town. (1955, 100 minutes, B&W)
- Deadline at Dawn (April 27) - Starring Susan Hayward, Bill Williams and Paul Lukas. When a woman he meets is murdered, a soon to be drafted sailor has until dawn to find the killer, aided by a weary dance hall girl. (1946, 83 minutes, B&W)
