MONTCLAIR, NJ — A food truck company that’s been making a big name for itself in New Jersey recently served up 200 of its namesake burritos at a food pantry in Montclair for the holidays.

On Tuesday, Bro-Ritos Food Truck – which Parade Magazine named as one of the “best Black-owned eateries” in the country – paid a visit to the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair. The mission? To hand out a tasty, healthy meal to some neighbors in need.

It was a smash hit, according to the pantry’s executive director, Mike Bruno.

They weren’t the only ones who had grins on their faces, Bro-Ritos co-owner John Gibbs said.

“We love using our food to bring joy to people, and seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces,” Gibbs said. “I think we delivered some savory holiday happiness.”

Both the Human Needs Food Pantry and Bro-Ritos have been building strong reputations over the past years in North Jersey.

Since 1982, the Human Needs Food Pantry has provided food, clothing and other services to people in need who live in Montclair and neighboring communities in Essex County. The nonprofit’s diverse client base includes families and individuals who are elderly, disabled, home-bound, unemployed or underemployed.

Meanwhile, Bro-Ritos – which opened for business in 2016 – has been expanding its presence in the region, increasing its fleet size and opening a brick-and-mortar location in Hackensack.
