Gardens Aglow In Montclair: Halloween Event Returns For 2024

An elaborate display of carved botanic, floral and Halloween-themed pumpkins is coming to the Essex County Presby Memorial Iris Gardens.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — An elaborate display of carved botanic, floral and Halloween-themed pumpkins is coming to the Presby Memorial Iris Gardens in Montclair for 2024.

Essex County officials and the Citizens Committee of the Presby Memorial Iris Gardens are inviting the public to a free seasonal event – “Gardens Aglow” – on Friday, Oct. 20. The rain date is Saturday, Oct. 21.

The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at Presby Memorial Iris Gardens, 474 Upper Mountain Avenue in Montclair.

Here’s what to expect, organizers said:

“Area high schools have been invited to demonstrate and showcase their creativity and carve pumpkins for the event. All jack-o-lanterns will be lit with candles and lined around the flower beds to help illuminate the gardens. Seasonal refreshments will be available. Admission is free.”

Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. encouraged local residents to check out the gardens and the unique and colorful jack-o-lantern display.

“Then, enjoy a glass of cider at sunset while watching the gardens glow,” DiVincenzo suggested.
