ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police charged an Essex County man with robbery, aggravated assault and other offenses after he allegedly burglarized a home in Glen Ridge and assaulted a cop last week, authorities said.

According to the Glen Ridge Police Department, officers responded to the 400-block of Ridgewood Avenue at 4:42 p.m. on Friday after getting a report about a burglary in progress.

A 911 caller told police that they spotted an intruder in the house, and gave officers a description of the suspect. When police arrived, they saw Marvin Mixson, 39, of Newark, walking down the driveway attempting to flee, authorities said.
