Glen Ridge Diya Lighting Ceremony Is Town's First-Ever: 2024 Diwali

The landmark event will unite the community to commemorate and embrace the traditions of Diwali, the festival of lights.

On Sunday, Oct. 27, join us for a historic and heartwarming celebration as we come together for the first-ever Glen Ridge Diya Lighting Ceremony with Mayor Debbie Mans. This landmark event will unite the community to commemorate and embrace the beautiful traditions of Diwali, the festival of lights.

The event will take place at Glen Ridge Borough Hall from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m., featuring a ceremonial lighting of the diya, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and the strength of unity. Mayor Mans will lead the diya lighting, marking a new tradition that will illuminate the rich diversity of Glen Ridge. Additional speakers will include Kavita Kumar, Nina Kundra Shah, Sujana Chandrasekhar and Ameesh Shah. Glen Ridge Pharmacy is serving as sponsor for the event.

In addition to the diya lighting, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy Indian sweets and dance performances, celebrating the vibrant culture and festive spirit of Diwali. This event offers a unique chance to connect with neighbors and share in the warmth and joy of this cherished celebration.
