Glen Ridge Teen Dies After Car Crash In Brookdale Park

A 16-year-old from Glen Ridge died after a crash in the Bloomfield section of Brookdale Park, which also extends into Montclair.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A car crash in the Bloomfield section of Brookdale Park claimed the life of a 16-year-old teen from Glen Ridge last weekend, authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau was notified of the single-car crash at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. It took place on Brookdale Park’s West Circuit Drive in Bloomfield. The county-run park also extends through Montclair.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, there were four juveniles in the car at the time of the crash, all from Glen Ridge. They were taken to local hospitals, where the 16-year-old boy – a rear passenger – was pronounced dead at 12:04 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson.
