Grab A ‘Christmapolitan’ At Holiday Pop-Up Bar In New Jersey

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A holiday “miracle” is coming to Essex County, and it includes hefty doses of vodka, gin and rum.

The popular Miracle on Bloomfield – a cocktail pop-up bar that features Christmas decorations and creative, holiday-themed drinks – will make a triumphant return to North Jersey for another round of holiday kitsch and boozy mirth in 2022.

This year, the pop-up bar will set up at The Parkside Social at 706 Bloomfield Avenue in Verona from Monday, Nov. 21 to Sunday, Jan. 1 (it has visited other nearby towns in the past, including Nutley).

Wondering what to expect? Here’s the pitch from organizers:

“With kitschy holiday décor, professionally-developed cocktails and the nostalgic energy of the best office holiday party you’ve ever been to, Miracle on Bloomfield is sure to get even the grouchiest grinch in the holiday spirit.”

The mastermind behind recipe creation for Miracle, Joann Spiegel, has created an array of cheery and delicious holiday cocktails to the menu this year. The 2022 lineup includes drinks such as:

• Christmapolitan - vodka, elderflower, dry vermouth, spiced cranberry sauce, lime, rosemary, absinthe mist
• Santa’s Little Helper - gin, spiced caraway syrup, eucalyptus, sage, lime, seltzer
• Christmas Cricket - blanco tequila, vanilla liqueur, minty amaro, coco pandan, cream, mole bitters, dark chocolate
• Elfing Around - prosecco, gin, mulled wine reduction, grapefruit shrub, aromatic bitters, orange bitters
• Holiday Spiked Chai - brandy, Jamaican overproof rum, coffee liqueur, amaretto, chai, almond milk, egg white, tiki bitters, nutmeg
• Snowball Old-Fashioned - rye, gingerbread, aromatic bitters, wormwood bitters, orange essence
• Jingle Balls Nog - cognac, cream sherry, almond milk, cream, egg, vanilla, nutmeg Hot Buttered Rum (served hot)
• Hot Buttered Rum - (served hot) aged Jamaican rum, velvet falernum, mixed spiced butter, oak milk, nutmeg
• Mulled Wine (served hot) - mulled red wine, tawny port, orange liqueur, Christmas spices
• "Nice" Shot - rum, peppermint tea, chocolate
• "Naughty" Shot - bourbon, cinnamon

“Our holly jolly programming will include events such as our Black Friday Brunch on November 24 and an Ugly Sweater Party on December 3. There will be Sleigh Ride Bus Tours to all of the Skopos Miracle Restaurants (in Verona, Nutley, Wood-Ridge and Harrison) on December 3 and 10 and Brunch with Santa on December 17.”

Launched in 2014 when founder Greg Boehm transformed his bar, Mace, into a winter wonderland during the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the “Miracle” concept has now spread to more than 200 participating locations.
