Here’s How ‘Ageism’ Can Hurt: Public Presentation In Montclair
A free, public presentation on "ageism" will take place at Montclair State University on April 24.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Aging In Montclair (AIM), in collaboration with Montclair State University’s Family Science and Human Development Department, will present a program on various aspects of ageism on Wednesday, April 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
According to a news release from organizers, the program, to be held in University Hall room 1020, will be presented to students taking a class on public policy and aging taught by Ashley Elmer, Ph.D. Members of AIM and the general public are invited to attend and to participate in “the interactive and intergenerational experience” (free of charge.)
The program will feature the New Jersey Mental Health Players who will present two scenes: one highlighting issues of older individuals feeling isolated or invisible and the other dealing with “benevolent ageism” in the form of overprotective adult children. Each scene will be followed by a lively discussion intended to explore issues related to ageism, organizers stated.
