Holiday Cheer Safe Once Again: Cops Arrest ‘Grinch’ In New Jersey

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — The charge? “Attempting to steal holiday cheer.” That’s what took down the Grinch on Sunday in Essex County, New Jersey.

The Verona Police Department posted a video of the “arrest” on social media (watch it below).

In the video, officers can be seen leading the iconic Christmas character away to an awaiting patrol car. With lights flashing – and bystanders chuckling – the arresting officers safely stow the would-be thief away in the back seat, where he can do no harm.

“Bye bye, Grinch,” one cop tells him.

“One in custody,” another deadpans as a pair of green arms wave in frustration through the window of the vehicle.
