How Much State Aid For Montclair Schools? NJ Releases New Totals

Some school districts will see more state aid, others will lose funding. Here are the 2025-2026 numbers for Montclair.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair is among the school districts that will get a bump in funding under the proposed New Jersey state budget.

The Montclair Public School District is in line to get $9,877,075 in state aid: a 6 percent increase from last year’s $9,317,995. That funding will be earmarked as follows:

  • Transportation Aid – $1,497,415
  • Special Education Aid – $7,535,980
  • Security Aid – $843,680

Montclair and other towns in Essex County will be getting a combined 5.26 percent hike to state aid next year – more than every other county in New Jersey except Salem (5.59 percent). That increase isn’t shared evenly, however – with several districts in Essex County losing state funding. See the full chart here.
