Innisfree Foundation: Leading the Fight for Children With Disabilities
Local nonprofit working statewide to get free and appropriate education for all children, particularly those with disabilities.
Did you know that there is a nonprofit in your backyard whose primary goal is to assist New Jersey families in getting the best possible school experience for their children? The Innisfree Foundation's primary focus is on children with disabilities, particularly those children who have disabilities like autism, dyslexia, physical limitations, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, and myriad others.
Resurrecting the spirit of a nonprofit entity founded by his teacher parents, local attorney, John Rue, began the work of the current Innisfree Foundation in Montclair in 2011. Innisfree directly assists clients who meet its income criteria through its low bono and pro bono work, and also works on behalf of the state’s entire special education population through its participation in direct advocacy, amicus filings, impact litigation and test cases, and outreach via social media and provision of educational seminars. .
In order to accomplish this work, Innisfree Foundation educates parents, develops resources for the benefit of its stakeholders, and develops and maintains attorney and nonattorney advocate relationships. Innisfree is not a law firm. Innisfree is a not-for-profit corporation that commits its resources to projects that will directly or indirectly benefit the public we serve, either by obtaining positive outcomes for them or seeking to improve the governing law. Innisfree may also occasionally fund experts, pay for specific services, or assist the parent(s) of children with disabilities in family court matters, in order to carry out our mission successfully in a cost effective and sustainable manner.
