Irish Echo Honors Montclair Resident
Eilish Harrington works at Seton Hall University's Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology
In honor of Saint Patrick's Day, Seton Hall University celebrates Eilish R. Harrington's recent induction into the Irish Echo's "40 Under 40" list. Harrington currently works at Seton Hall University's Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology (ICSST) as Institutional Research Specialist. The Echo's list honors a prestigious and diverse group of young professionals who "have already blazed trails through their lives that bring credit to themselves, their families, their communities, Ireland, Irish America, and the United States of America." Harrington, a native of Montclair, N.J., has been a lifelong Hibernophile and takes great pride in her ancestral roots in Counties Cork, Mayo, and Clare.
Harrington's university experience exemplified Seton Hall's commitment to academic rigor and cultural diversity. She is the founder of the student organization Pirates of Irish Persuasion & Extraction (PIPE), a group she started in 2006 in order to further the celebration of Irish heritage through cultural, educational, social, and service activities. She continues to function as the group's advisor today. As the University Bagpiper, she can be seen and heard at major University events.
A 2008 Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University, Harrington maintained a 4.0 GPA. She majored in Liberal Studies and Classical Studies, and was awarded the honors citation for each. For her Honors Program thesis, "Behold, I Make All Things New: The Old Woman's Role in Establishing National Identity Through 20th-Century Irish Drama," she received the Charles F. and Hannah Chelius Stark Prize.

Her current work at ICSST has earned her the praise of her colleagues and reinforced her passionate commitment to Seton Hall. Beginning as an editor at ICSST in 2009, she later that year accepted the position of Institutional Research Specialist. In this capacity, she has improved the tracking of student, faculty and University data, which she uses to advance ICSST in the fields of grants/funding, development and academic accreditation.
In addition to her extensive involvement in Irish-American organizations and events beyond Seton Hall, Harrington maintains an active presence among University alumni. In 2013, she founded the PIPE Alumni Club, and she serves as its president. Open to all alumni of the University who are interested in Irish culture, the club's events have drawn hundreds of participants. The most popular of the club's events is the annual Irish Language Mass and Dinner, to be held this year on campus on Friday, April 15.
