It’s About To Get Hot, Forecasters Say; Half-Day For Montclair Schools

The humidity will make it feel like 100 degrees across northeast New Jersey, including in Montclair, weather forecasters say.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The thermometer is about to jump in Montclair and other parts of New Jersey, weather forecasters say.

A heat advisory will be in effect for much of the Garden State this week, with maximum “feels like” temperatures expected to reach up to 105 degrees Tuesday, forecasters said. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the humidity will make it feel like 100 degrees across northeast New Jersey, where heat advisories remain in effect.

Montclair town officials noted that the NWS heat advisory will remain in effect for the township until 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to a letter to parents from school administrators, Wednesday, Sept. 6 will be a half-day in the Montclair School District due to the excessively high temperatures predicted for the afternoon. All schools will follow their abbreviated day schedules.

YMCA after-care programs are cancelled. Before-care programs remain in session.

"The district will continue to closely monitor conditions in all school buildings and will notify you if further schedule changes need to be made as the week goes on," administrators said.
