Junior Co-Captain Leads MKA Tennis

Montclair Kimberley Academy's boys tennis team went through the rigors of a 7-15 spring season while competing in and out of the formidable Super Essex Conference-American Division, while always receiving strong leadership from its junior captain Nikhil Shah of Montclair.

Shah excelled at second doubles for the Cougars along with fellow junior Nicholas Wolf.

"Nikhil is a strong upperclassman and superb leader for us," said MKA Coach Bill Wing. "He was a junior captain I knew that I could count on to help set the tone for our very young team along with senior co-captain Alex Crespo (second singles).

MKA, which finished 1-7 in the SEC-American, had a solid 4-1 team victory vs. Don Bosco Prep in the first round of the NJSIAA Non-Public state tournament as Shah and Wolf combined for a 6-0, 6-0 triumph in second doubles.

The Cougars' season ended with a 5-0 loss to powerful Pingry, 5-0, in the Non-Public quarterfinals.
