Lackawanna Plaza Update In Montclair: Hearing Scheduled, Master Plan

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Got an opinion about the latest version of the Lackawanna Plaza Redevelopment Plan in Montclair? Get ready for another round of debate as town officials continue to discuss the controversial project.

According to a public notice, a hearing is scheduled for Lackawanna Plaza at the town council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

The plan has seen several changes since it was first put forward. See the new version online here. The previous version of the plan and other supporting documents can be found on the town’s website.

The Montclair Town Council voted in favor of an ordinance that would advance the oft-discussed development project at their meeting in August.

The project went back to the Montclair Planning Board, which passed a vote on Sept. 18 that declared the revised proposal doesn’t conform to the town’s master plan, a document that guides local development (watch the video below).

The Montclair Town Council will have to vote a second time on the revised ordinance – but this time with the planning board’s latest recommendation in mind.
