Latinos of Montclair has partnered with the Montclair Art Museum to host the 2024 Latino Heritage Celebration following this year’s National Archives theme of Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together on September 22, 2024 from 1:00PM - 4:00PM.

We are proud to collaborate with Latinos of Montclair and open the Museum to be a place where all members of the community come together in celebration.

- Ira Wagner, Executive Director - Montclair Art Museum

As we celebrate Latino heritage we are reminded of the scale and influence American Latinos have as a community to Shape the Future Together in New Jersey and across the country. Latinos represent 22% of the Garden State’s population and close to 11% in Montclair, standing as the largest minority group in New Jersey and second largest minority group in Montclair.

Pioneering Change: Shaping the Future Together reflects the many ways Latinos in New Jersey and across the country seek to uplift American Latino stories, advocate for Latino rights and representation, support professional and educational advancement, and promote the awareness and preservation of Latino culture and history.

Latinos of Montclair welcomes all to celebrate and enjoy a family afternoon with children’s art activities and an exceptional line-up of performances that further highlight the diversity of the Latino/e community. The celebration will be hosted by Jonathan Echeverry, Colombian-American actor and owner / founder of Paper Plane Coffee Co., and Wendy Tiburcio, Dominican-American digital creator and founder of The Montclairnista. The event will feature Ballet Hispaníco, the largest Latino/e cultural organization in the United States, Latinos of Montclair’s first youth dance group - Ritmo Jardín, founder of the Afro Latino Festival of New York and singer-songwriter Mai-Elka Prado, local favorite Compás, award winning poet Matthew Marroquín, Teen Bachata band DNX4, and AGNYC Entertainment.

"Our goal is to invite all community members to celebrate with us and showcase our collective diversity and community culture." - Latinos of Montclair

The celebration will also host several local Latino/e vendors and community organizations and a variety of food vendors.

Montclair’s Latino Heritage Month programming and celebration was made possible by the community volunteers and donations, and in collaboration with Montclair Public Library and the Montclair Art Museum.

Tickets: $25.00 for a family of 5 and $10.00 individual tickets now available for purchase [LINK].
