LGBTQ Pride Event In Essex County: Community Picnic Open To Public

A new pride group hopes to provide a safe, warm and inviting space for members of the LGBTQ community in Essex County.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Essex County's recently formed “LGBTQ+ committee,” Bloomfield Pride, will host an event to celebrate Pride Month on Saturday, June 24.

According to a news release from the group, the event, a “Pride Picnic,” will be held at Brookside Park in Bloomfield from 2 to 5 p.m. The free, public event will include a picnic lunch with assorted salads, cupcakes and watermelon, as well as games and other activities for adults and children.

“As a newly formed organization, the group is excited to get to know one another better in a casual, social setting and looks to welcome new members to the event. Bloomfield Pride is equally comprised of those identifying themselves as members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as family, friends, and allies. Going forward, Bloomfield Pride will be hosting regularly scheduled social events in addition to their monthly business meetings. By hosting these social events, the group hopes to provide a safe, warm, and inviting space for members of the LGBTQ+ community in Bloomfield and the surrounding areas.”
