Loaded Gun Found On Bench In Montclair: Police

Someone found a loaded handgun on a bench on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair police arrested an Essex County resident who allegedly left a loaded gun on a bench last week, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to the Montclair Police Department, officers responded to the 500-block of Bloomfield Avenue at 5:15 a.m. on Friday after a passerby found a handgun on a bench.

The officers found a 9mm Sig Sauer loaded with seven rounds of ammunition at the scene, authorities said.

Montclair police detectives obtained surveillance from the area and were able to determine who discarded the firearm on the bench, identifying him as Anthony Anderson, 30, of Orange. He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, authorities said.
