Local Band Lands Gig At Montclair’s Wellmont Theater, Will Open For Gin Blossoms

The Thing-One band is coming home, Montclair.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Thing-One band is coming home, Montclair.

Joey Palestina, co-founder of Thing-One, grew up playing music in small local venues of Essex County. Now – after cutting their teeth alongside acts such as Matisyahu, Moby, and Ra Ra Riot – Palestina and his cohorts are returning to Montclair’s Wellmont Theater at 5 Seymour Street to open for the Gin Blossoms on Feb. 25.

“To be playing the Wellmont, a venue we grew up going to, will be pure glory,” Palestina said. “We just released our new EP, Fair Weather Friends, and to perform that in front of a friends and family will be powerful. We’ve always wanted to bring our music to a dynamic, historic venue like the Wellmont and it’s exciting to have our performance fueled by a loyal, passionate, and wild hometown audience.”
