Locals Offer a Walking History of Montclair

Annual tour on Saturday will chronicle the development of the area from a rural settlement to a suburban town.

This Saturday, Montclair history buffs will have an opportunity to enjoy the spring weather at the Walking Tour of the Upper Montclair Business District.

The annual tour - developed and co-led by the Friends of Anderson Park and the Montclair Historical Society in conjunction with co-sponsor Bike and Walk Montclair – will chronicle the development of the area from a rural settlement in the 1880s to a burgeoning suburban town in the 1930s.

The 2.5 hour walking tour will start at 10:30 a.m. Organizers are asking for a $5 suggested donation, and will be collecting non-perishable food contributions for Human Needs Food Pantry in collaboration with the St. James Episcopal Church food drive.
