‘Luke Cage’ Producer, Montclair Resident, To Speak At Free Event
Gail Barringer, a Montclair resident and a producer on "Marvel's Luke Cage," will speak at a Montclair Library event on April 29.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — An upcoming, comic-book themed event at the Montclair Public Library will include two heavyweights on the hit Netflix show, “Marvel’s Luke Cage.”
According to the Montclair Public Library, the “Power of a Black Superhero” event on Sunday, April 29 will feature Cheo Hodari Coker, Luke Cage’s executive producer, creator and head writer, in conversation with Gail Barringer, a producer on the show and a Montclair resident.
The discussion will include the challenges of writing drama for a television series, the rise of comic book heroes and graphic novels, and the cultural importance of different superheroes, the MPL stated.

The event takes place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Montclair Public Library auditorium, 50 South Fullerton Avenue.
Local comic book store East Side Mags will have comic books for purchase and signing at the event. The event is free thanks to support from sponsors The Montclair Foundation and Investors Foundation. Registration is encouraged and can be done online here. Teens are welcome at the event, organizers said.
