Darnell and McGrath’s film revolves around the aforementioned animals, living at the Central Park Zoo, who find themselves stranded on the African island of Madagascar. They must shed their city ways and fend for themselves in the wild.

The movie spawned two sequels (2008 and 2012) and a spinoff about the series’ penguins (2014).

Plaza Theatrical productions have been featured at the Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors Festival, The Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, Live Nation’s NYCB Theatre (formerly Westbury Music Fair), the Long Island Children’s Museum, The Cradle of Aviation Museum and the St. George Theatre, Staten Island.

Plaza Theatrical is led by Kevin Harrington, who has been producing and directing musicals for over 35 years. An associate member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, Harrington has directed over 250 musicals.
