Male Dancers Will Take To Montclair State Stage To Inspire Brotherhood, Beauty

A troupe of local dancers plan to show the MSU community that "dance is in the hearts of men."

Next month, a troupe of local dancers will show the community that “dance is in the hearts of men.”

Montclair State University recently announced that it will host a unique, all-male dance program titled “Hearts of Men” that will culminate with two public performances on Sept. 10 and 11.

The two-week summer intensive dance program is designed by Earl Mosley's Institute of the Arts (EIMA) to create "dances of culture, inspiration, beauty and brotherhood." To be held on the campus of Montclair State University, the program will include dance instruction, workshops and guest speakers.

In addition to being a choreography/dance instructor at MSU, Mosley has performed with Alvin Ailey, Repertory Ensemble, Gus Soloman's Dance and Ron Brown's Evidence A Dance Company. He has choreographed for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theater Studio Company, Dallas Black Theatre, The Joffrey Ballet School, the Alvin Ailey School and numerous other national and international institutions. His work has been performed on stages including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Mosley was inspired to create the summer dance intensive with the goal of “providing a space where young men can gain courage, feel safe and confident to pursue their life dreams,” MSU administrators stated in a news release.
