MONTCLAIR, NJ — A customer grabbed a quarter-ounce of cannabis and ran out of a dispensary in Montclair last week when he learned it didn’t accept Apple Pay, authorities say.
The Montclair Police Department released the following statement about the theft, which took place on Feb. 1 at Ascend on Bloomfield Avenue:
“Employees at Ascend reported that an individual attempted to purchase two 3.5-gram packages of marijuana using Apple Pay. When he was advised that Ascend does not accept Apple Pay, the suspect grabbed the two packages and fled the store, last seen west on Bloomfield Avenue towards Glenridge Avenue.”
Montclair police said the suspect was wearing a black jacket and a grey hooded sweatshirt.
