Man Hurls Ladder At Montclair Cop During Foot Chase: Police
Two men escaped from Montclair police after an encounter involving a tow truck, a motorcycle and a ladder, authorities said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Two men recently escaped from Montclair police after an encounter involving a tow truck, a motorcycle and a ladder – which was hurled at an officer, authorities announced Tuesday.
According to the Montclair Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 300-block of Orange Road around 1 a.m. on June 19 after authorities received a report about two men who were trying to load a 2018 Suzuki motorcycle onto a tow truck, which had its registration covered with cardboard.

“Upon seeing the patrol cars, both suspects attempted to enter the tow truck but were stopped. Both suspects initially complied with officers however, one suspect took off running on foot east bound through several back yards. The fleeing suspect threw a ladder at the pursuing officer, causing the officer to fall and injure his leg. The suspect was last seen in the area of Grenada Place. The second suspect was able to enter the tow truck and flee the scene.”
Montclair police pursued the tow truck, but ended the chase near JFK Parkway in Bloomfield, authorities said.
