Man Pepper Sprayed In Montclair Supermarket Parking Lot: Police

The victim told officers he didn't know the person who pepper sprayed him, Montclair police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A man pepper sprayed another man in the parking lot of a supermarket in Montclair last week and fled the scene, authorities announced Tuesday.

The Montclair Police Department released the following statement about the incident, which took place on Valley Road on April 18:

“The victim reported that he was in the parking lot of the Acme supermarket when he was approached by an unknown male and sprayed in the face with pepper spray. The suspect then ran to an awaiting vehicle described as an older-model, gray or silver station wagon with partial New Jersey plate: J47.”

Police said the suspect was described as a male about 5 feet 10 inches with an average build, thick brown hair and an “olive” skin complexion. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
