Man Trespassed At Several Montclair Homes On Thanksgiving: Police

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A man was caught trespassing at several homes in Montclair on Thanksgiving night, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to the Montclair Police Department, officers responded to multiple homes after getting reports about a “suspicious” man trespassing on their property – including inside some of their homes – during the late evening hours on Nov. 24.

Montclair police released a statement about each incident (see below). Authorities said anyone with information can contact Detective Dan Heiser at (973) 509-4724.

STONEBRIDGE ROAD - “The first incident occurred at approximately 7:10 p.m. when a Stonebridge Road resident reported hearing someone walking around her first floor while she was upstairs. One of the occupants in the home observed an individual run from the property. He was wearing dark clothing and was approximately 5 feet 10 inches. Nothing was reported missing.”

INWOOD TERRACE - “At approximately 8:45 p.m., a resident on Inwood Terrace reported observing someone removing the flower pots by his kitchen window ledge in an attempt to open the window. The suspect ran when he was discovered by the homeowner’s son.”

HIGHLAND AVENUE - “At 9:45 p.m., a resident on Highland Avenue reported observing an unknown person on his property about to enter his side door. The suspect was described as a light-skinned male, average build, about 5 feet 11 inches, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, and a black ski mask covering his face. The suspect ran after being confronted by the resident.”

PROSPECT PLACE - “A resident on Prospect Place alerted police about an hour later that his home surveillance captured the same male running across his property. The next morning, a second caller from Prospect Place reported his wallet missing from his kitchen counter.”

UPPER MOUNTAIN AVENUE - “Shortly after midnight, a complainant on Upper Mountain Avenue observed a male matching this same description trespassing on the property. He fled when confronted.”

NORTH MOUNTAIN AVENUE - “The male with the same description was observed attempting to gain entry into a North Mountain Avenue address one hour later. Her fled when confronted by the resident.”
