Man Tries To Steal Keys From Valet Booth In Montclair: Police
After being chased away from the area, the man made his escape in a car reported stolen from Livingston, police said.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A man unsuccessfully tried to steal several keys from a valet booth in Montclair last week, making his escape in a car reported stolen out of Livingston, police say.
According to the Montclair Police Department, a valet working on Church Street reported the incident on April 1.
The employee told officers that a grey BMW with New York plates pulled up along the valet booth. An unknown man got out of the car, approached the booth, and attempted to take several keys, authorities said.

After being chased away from the area, the man got back into the BMW and fled west on Church Street. It was later learned that the car was reported stolen in Livingston, police said.
Montclair police said the suspect was described as a Black male from 19 to 22-years-old, about 5 feet 6 inches, with medium-length, braided hair. He was wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and blue jeans.
