‘Max and Ruby’ Meet ‘Nutcracker’ In Montclair: 2016 Holiday Event

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A pair of classics will meet at Montclair’s Wellmont Theater on Dec. 3: children’s book series Max and Ruby and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker.

Set to the timeless music of Tchaikovsky, as well as a medley of original songs, the 90-minute theatrical about bunny siblings Max and Ruby features direction and choreography by Patti Caplette, who has professionally danced The Nutcracker with Canada’s leading dance companies Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal and Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Here’s how the Wellmont Theater describes the event:

“It’s Christmas Eve, and Ruby is busy trimming the tree, while Max is chasing the delicious scent of Grandma’s gingerbread cookies. There is a knock at the front door and they find a huge parcel from their Great Uncle Drosselmeyer. Ruby unwraps the package and soon realizes that each toy is from the story of the Nutcracker Ballet, including a Nutcracker doll.”

Shows will take place at 12:30 and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.
