
Play ball! And, boy, did they ever! On Sunday, the Montclair High School baseball team beat Millburn to fight its way to the finals of the Greater Newark Tournament for the first time since 1969.
The Mounties will face Nutley—which upset Seton Hall on Sunday in a 9-1 game—on Sunday, May 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark.

Montclair enjoyed a 4-2 win over Millburn at Verona's Doc Goeltz Field.
According to The Montclair Times, Montclair won four GNT titles—in 1942, 1948, 1954, and 1963. The team's last appearance in the GNT final came in 1969, four years before the tournament format changed from invite-only to an all-Essex County event.
