On Saturday, May 18, the Montclair High School Gay Straight Alliance (MHS GSA) will present a “Gay May Day” event at Watchung Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will be a fundraiser for The Ali Forney Center in Harlem, which provides food, medical care, mental health services, and housing services for homeless LGBTQ youth.

“When the families of LGBTQ middle school and high school age children don’t accept their sons’ or daughters’ sexual orientation, these kids are kicked out of their homes and are forced to live on the streets,” says Kate de Laforcade of MHS GSA. “The Ali Forney Center is a wonderful organization that protects LGBTQ youths from the harms of homelessness, and the money that we raise from our raffles and donations will support their valuable work.”
