MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair's 2020 municipal election results have been certified and the township has a new mayor: Sean Spiller.

Montclair's election was held via mail this year due to the coronavirus crisis. Ballots needed to be postmarked by May 12. There were no in-person polling places.

On May 18, Essex County Clerk Chris Durkin confirmed that the results posted on the county website have been certified.

Councilman Sean Spiller will be the town's new mayor after narrowly defeating Councilwoman Renee Baskerville by a margin of 195 votes.

  • Councilor-At-Large – Bob Russo
  • First Ward Councilor – William Hurlock
  • Second Ward Councilwoman – Robin Schlager
  • Third Ward Councilwoman – Lori Price Abrams
  • Fourth Ward Councilor – David Cummings

  • Renee Baskerville - 5,250 votes (48.85%)
  • Sean Spiller - 5,445 (50.66%)
