Montclair Animal Shelter Finds New Homes For 15 Cats, 2 Dogs

The 'Clear the Shelters' event found new homes for 15 cats and two dogs. Adoption fees were waived in an effort to house homeless pets.

From the Town of Montclair: The Montclair Township Animal Shelter’s August 19 Clear the Shelters event was a tremendous success with 15 cats and 2 dogs finding their forever homes. The Shelter waived pet adoption fees during the event in an effort to find new homes for homeless pets.

The Friends of the Montclair Animal Shelter (FOMTAS) contributed $2,440 towards adoption fees.“We're are so happy that these wonderful people who gave of themselves so freely were able to give permanent homes to our animals,” said Ms. Morgan.

“Summer is a tough time of year for homeless pets -- many are abandoned when owners go on vacation, and fewer people come to the Shelter because of summer vacations. The Clear the Shelters event really made a difference.”Clear the Shelters is a nationwide pet adoption drive launched last year by NBC 4 New York / WNBC and Telemundo 47 / WNJU to help find loving homes for animals in need.

Almost 20,000 pets found their forever homes in 2015.

FOMTAS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created in 2012 in an effort to address some of the most urgent needs of homeless animals in the community.
