Montclair Art Museum Nominated in Discover Jersey Arts's People's Choice Awards
The museum is among nominees for favorite art museum, favorite adult art class and favorite art camp.

The Montclair Art Museum (MAM) has announced its three nominations in the 2016 JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Awards of three categories: favorite art museum, favorite adult art class (MAM’s Yard School of Art) and favorite art camp (MAM SummerART). The yearly awards program, now in its eighth year, is run by Discover Jersey Arts, who pays tribute to the work of New Jersey’s vital, vibrant and diverse arts organizations. The time has come for lovers of the arts throughout the state to vote for their favorite New Jersey arts organizations.
“The Montclair Art Museum is incredibly grateful for these nominations,” said Lora Urbanelli, MAM director. “We’re honored to be recognized by our fellow colleagues, and to be a part of such a strong arts community that drives one another to thrive. We hope our patrons will also support us with their votes.”
MAM and fellow contenders were nominated by their peers through the Jersey Arts Marketers network, which is made up of hundreds of nonprofit arts groups across the state. Ten arts districts and 100 organizations, the greatest number of nominees the Awards has received since its creation in 2008, will compete in 16 categories, including favorite performing arts center, dance company, art gallery, choral group and others.

“We have seen the number of nominees grow again this year, which truly illustrates the breadth of art we have in our state and the desire these groups have to see one another thrive,” said Adam Perle, president and CEO of ArtPride New Jersey, which cosponsors the Discover Jersey Arts program with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. “The quality of art we have here is ever burgeoning thanks to our amazing cultural community working together to build each other up.”
Public voting began Wednesday, Jan. 6 and will run through and runs through Thursday, Feb. 11. Winners will be announced and honored in early March at the New Jersey Conference on Tourism in Atlantic City. The Museum’s Yard School of Art won two awards (adult art class and art camp) in 2015. A full list of nominees and categories is available through the Discover Jersey Arts website.
