MONTCLAIR, NJ — The world needs more uplifting and positive messages. And music may be the key to making it happen, a Montclair artist says.
Carol Vasquez, the music director at Unity of Montclair, has launched an Ingiegogo campaign to help her record and release “Posi-Music,” an in-the-works album that features songs originally written to be part of the church’s Sunday services.
According to Vasquez, the album incorporates many genres of music, all with the theme of “positivity and personal empowerment.”

“It is my hope that these songs will help to spread uplifting and positive messages to a world that probably could use a little joy boost,” said Vasquez, a local mother of two who has performed at such venues as The Rainbow Room, the Waldorf Astoria and the Metropolitan Club.

Additional musicians on the album include co-producer and pianist Ted Brancato, bassist Greg Jones, drummer Lee Finkelstein and guitarist/violinist Dave Rimelis. The album also includes a guest performance by award-winning jazz guitarist Dave Stryker.
Here’s why Vasquez is trying to raise her goal of $5,000, according to her Indiegogo campaign:
“Recording music to be radio-ready quality comes at a cost. At this point, I have self-funded the project, but there is still much more to do. There are three more songs to record from scratch. Then, there is mixing, mastering, duplication and administrative costs. And I’m super excited about hiring a fabulous gospel choir for the song “Rise Up!”
