Deeply empathetic to the challenges presented during the coronavirus health crisis, Kinney also plans to surprise several children of essential workers and children who have otherwise been affected by the coronavirus with signed books and Wimpy Kid prizes.

“Even though this tour is much different, I can’t wait to connect with my fans and meet real Awesome Friendly kids along the way,” Kinney said. “I hope the tour will bring readers some much-needed celebration and positivity.”

SHERRILL/STEINHAUER VIRTUAL EVENT

The bookstore will also host a virtual event with Rep. Sherrill and author Jennifer Steinhauer on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 8 p.m.

Steinhauer and Sherrill will discuss “The Firsts: The Inside Story of the Women Reshaping Congress,” which the congresswoman was featured in. The event coincides with the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. (Learn more about this event here)

Sherrill represents the 11th Congressional District, which includes parts of Montclair.

According to a news release from Watchung Booksellers:

“In the November 2018 midterms, the greatest number of women in history were elected to Congress. A diverse group in background, age, professional experience, and ideology--all were swept into office on an enormous wave of grassroots support. In ‘The Firsts,’ New York Times reporter Jennifer Steinhauer chronicles these women’s first year in Congress, all the while asking: will this Congress, which looks a little more like today’s America, truly be the start of something new?”
