Montclair Brothers Forgo Birthday Gifts For Food Pantry Donations
A pair of young, Montclair brothers who share the same birthday made a heartfelt donation to their local food pantry.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A pair of young Montclair brothers who share the same birthday recently made a heartfelt donation to their local food pantry.
According to the Human Needs Food Pantry of Montclair, which serves the surrounding area, Carter and Calvin Shiao – ages 6 and 8 respectively – were born two years apart on the same day.
This year, instead of birthday gifts, the siblings asked guests at their party to bring donations of diapers and wipes for the pantry.

“That's a very thoughtful and caring set of young brothers (and parents, too, who are bringing them up to think of people in need),” staff wrote online.

The brothers’ inspiring donation to the Montclair pantry isn’t the only such recent effort. In June, another Essex County pair of siblings - Arthur and Franki Rose Smith – asked their birthday guests to donate to the Bloomfield Animal Shelter in lieu of gifts.
