Montclair Cat Rescue Group Holds 1st ‘Spay Day’

The results included 28 cats that were spayed or neutered, organizers said.

On Saturday, Oct. 28, the Montclair-based Communities Promoting Animal Welfare NJ (CPAWNJ) and People For Animals, Inc. (PFA) held their first annual Community Spay Day.

The results included 28 cats (16 female spays and 12 male neuters) that were spayed/neutered inside the SpayStation Mobile Surgical Unit (aka “Neuter Commuter”) at the Acme Supermarkets on Valley Road.

Five kittens were on display for lots of playing fun; one has been adopted and another adoption is pending. Six kittens trapped needed foster homes, and as of this time, three have been placed.

To volunteer, donate, or learn more go to www.cpawnj.org. The group’s next event is open to all and will take place on Thursday, Nov. 16. The event will include “Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate and Return” training by PFA Community Cat Manager, Valerie Wilson. RSVP at cpawnj@gmail.com.
