In Montclair: Child Luring Attempt Reported In Brookdale Park

Authorities are investigating a possible luring attempt that took place in Essex County's Brookdale Park.

Montclair, NJ – Authorities are investigating a possible luring attempt that took place in Brookdale Park on Sunday evening.

According to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, a man in civilian clothing who identified himself as a police officer allegedly approached a group of pre-teens around 5:30 p.m. while they were in the Essex County park, which is located in Montclair and Bloomfield.

The man – described as heavyset and about 50-years-old - reportedly asked the children “Do you want me to throw you in the van?” Pix 11 News stated.

The children ran away and told police about the incident; they didn’t see any sign of a van in the area, ABC7 News reported.
