​Montclair Church To Hold Musical 'Choir Day' Service For Holidays​

From Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church: Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Montclair will celebrate the Christmas season with soul-stirring preaching and musical ministry to be featured at the Choir Day Service, "Music is a Gift from God." The special service will take place Sunday, December 18 beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the church, located at 27 Monroe Place, where the Rev. Elizabeth Campbell is pastor.

The guest preacher, Rev. Andre W. Milteer, senior pastor of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Newark, will be joined by the Mt. Olivet Senior Choir. A native of New Bern, North Carolina, Rev. Milteer attended the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA where he successfully completed two undergraduate degrees (BA in Philosophy and BA in Black Studies); and a graduate degree (Masters in Library Science). Rev. Milteer also furthered his theological training at the Lutheran Theological Seminary (Urban Theological Institute) in Philadelphia, PA. His service in theological organizations includes past president of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Newark & Vicinity; 2nd Vice President /General Secretary, United Missionary Baptist Convention of NJ; Moderator, Shiloh Baptist Association; and affiliation with the Hampton Ministers Conference; National Baptist Convention USA Inc.; and Northern Baptist School of Religion.

"This service promises to be a joyous celebration of praise and worship," notes Angela Walker, president of the Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church Senior Choir, which is hosting the service. "It will be perfect way to usher in the Christmas season"

In addition to the guests from Mt. Olivet Church, the service will include musical ministry from other guest choirs, including the senior choir of New Calvary Baptist Church of Montclair, where the Rev. Clenard Childress, Jr. is pastor. All are invited to attend. Refreshments will be service in the downstairs fellowship hall, immediately following the service.
