A crane erecting the new midtown parking deck will need to lower its boom to the ground, blocking the roadway, Montclair officials said.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — A crane erecting the new midtown parking deck will need to lower its boom to the ground due to an ugly weather forecast, blocking the roadway, Montclair officials said Friday.
Montclair town officials released the following advisory at 3 p.m.:
“The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for northeast New Jersey and southeast New York. Due to the possibility of an impending tropical storm/hurricane making landfall in our area over the weekend, effective immediately, Glenridge Avenue will be impassable between North Willow Street and Bloomfield Avenue.”

“In an abundance of safety for residents and surrounding buildings, the crane erecting the new midtown parking deck will need to lower its boom to the ground, blocking the roadway. The Crane's boom will be down directly in front of what was the Crosby building, and it will be completely barricaded.”
Local residents will be able to access Glenridge Avenue via North Willow Street or Bloomfield Avenue, officials noted.
