Montclair Cops Wake Man Sleeping In Car, Chase Ensues: PD
The driver crashed into a patrol car and another parked vehicle, hit a dumpster and fled the scene, Montclair police said.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — A driver led police on a car chase after officers found him sleeping in his vehicle in Montclair on Monday, authorities said.
According to the Montclair Police Department, officers responded to the area of Park Street and Watchung Avenue after witnesses reported that a blue BMW was driving aggressively in the area.
Authorities said that officers found the vehicle parked in the lot of Montclair Motors, with the driver asleep.

Here’s what happened next, Montclair police said:
“When officers woke the driver up, he refused to exit the vehicle and instead reversed, striking a marked patrol unit as well as a second, parked and unoccupied vehicle. The BMW then struck a dumpster before fleeing east on Watchung Avenue at a high rate of speed. It was last seen being pursued by the NJ State Police on the Garden State Parkway South.”
