Montclair Cops Will Run In 33rd Law Enforcement Torch Run For Special Olympics NJ
Officers from Montclair, Verona, Glen Ridge, Bloomfield and West Orange will take place in the annual charity effort, police say.

Municipal police officers from five Essex County towns will participate in the 33rd annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey on Friday.
According to a Montclair Township news release, officers from Montclair, Verona, Glen Ridge, Bloomfield and West Orange will take place in the annual charity effort, taking over Leg No. 18 of the Torch Run relay.

In addition, 13 students at Bullock School in Montclair will join in the relay for several blocks while others from the school cheer the runners on, town officials stated.
According to town officials, the Law Enforcement Torch Run is an annual event that supports the athletes of Special Olympics New Jersey. During the 2016 event, the Flame of Hope torch will be carried more than 750 miles throughout the state by some 3,000 officers representing their local communities.

“The Montclair Police Department is always well represented in the annual relay,” said Police Chief Todd Conforti. “The department has participated in the Torch Run since the early 1990s, doing our part to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics. I'll be in the relay again this year… the Special Olympics athletes inspire all of us on the force to give our best to help their programs in every way possible.”
Torch Run Relay Leg No. 18 begins 8:30 a.m. with a staging ceremony at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in West Orange. Participants will head down Pleasant Valley Way to Bloomfield Avenue, running through Verona, Montclair, Glen Ridge, and Bloomfield, and end their leg at the Bloomfield PBA Hall on Watsessing Avenue.
