A New Jersey couple went missing after renting a jet ski while vacationing in Barbados, according to police.

Oscar Suarez, 32, and Magdalena Devil, 25, of Montclair went missing after riding their jet ski out to sea, police said.

The couple arrived in Barbados on Saturday and checked into the Discovery Bay Hotel at Trents in St. James, police said. They were scheduled to leave on Saturday, police said.

They rented the jet ski at 2:34 p.m. on Monday from an operator at Holetown Beach. They were both wearing life jackets, police said.

At 2:55 p.m., however, they did not return. The operator became worried and contacted the other operators in the area to carry out a search.

The operator then contacted the Police Marine Unit while the Barbados Coast Guard conducted a search of the areas. No one was found.

Neither Suarez nor Devil had returned to the hotel, police said.
