Montclair Eats: Local Spots and Restauranteurs Nominated For N.J. Awards

Montclair will have hometown connections to root for in the first Garden State Culinary Arts Awards.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair will have hometown connections to root for in the first Garden State Culinary Arts Awards.

According to the Garden State Culinary Arts Awards, two Montclair chefs were nominated in the Outstanding Chef category: Ryan DePersio from Fascino and Juan Andres Placencia from Costanera Cocina Peruana.

In addition, Sharon Sevrens, proprietor of Amanti Vino, was nominated in the Outstanding Wine Professional category.

All candidates in the competition will receive votes from 100 independent judges around the state, including journalists, food writers, cookbook authors and other culinary experts. The top three vote-getters in each category will be announced publicly in April, and after a follow up vote, the final winners will be announced on Saturday, May 6, during a ceremony presented by Buy-Rite Liquors.
